Gear Guide
The right kit makes or breaks a tour. MaximoMoto carry a full range of touring and adventure gear — tested brands, competitive UK prices, and free shipping over £69.
Gear by Route
Different destinations demand different kit priorities. Here's what actually matters for each region.
Scotland & Ireland
Waterproof everything. Scotland will expose every weakness in your kit within four hours of rain. CE Level 2 armour, sealed-seam jacket, gauntlet gloves, and waterproof boots.
Priority Gear
European Alps & Mountains
Temperature range is the challenge. Cold in the morning, warm at midday, possible rain at altitude. Layering system and a waterproof-capable jacket are essential.
Priority Gear
USA Touring
Distance and heat are the primary considerations. Mesh or ventilated textile jackets for Route 66 and Colorado summers. Good gloves for 8+ hour days in the saddle.

The Honest Gear Advice
After 15 years of touring, the advice is always the same: prioritise protection and waterproofing over everything else. You can always take a layer off. You can't un-soak your gear at 11am in the Scottish Highlands.
MaximoMoto stock the brands I trust — Bela, in particular, makes excellent value waterproof touring jackets that hold up to real conditions. Their clearance range regularly has CE-rated kit at 50–80% off standard retail.
The rule I give every rider heading on their first tour: spend on your helmet, jacket, and gloves. Everything else comes second.
