Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making theroadahead.uk accessible to all riders, including those with disabilities.
Last updated: June 2026
The Road Ahead is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we do
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are reachable and operable using the keyboard alone.
- Focus indicators: Visible focus outlines are present on all interactive elements for keyboard users.
- Skip to content: A "Skip to content" link is available at the top of each page to bypass navigation.
- Alt text: Meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Semantic HTML: Pages use proper heading hierarchies, landmarks, and ARIA attributes.
- Colour contrast: We design for WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Reduced motion: We respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting and disable non-essential animations. - Touch targets: Interactive controls on mobile devices meet the 44×44px minimum target size where practical.
- Safe areas: Fixed elements respect iOS notch and home-indicator safe areas.
Known limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may not yet be fully optimised:
- Some third-party content (affiliate widgets, embedded maps) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Some older page content may not have been fully audited for accessibility.
We are actively working to address these limitations.
