Your Data Rights

Your rights regarding personal data held by The Road Ahead, under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

In short

You have the right to see, correct, delete or transfer your personal data. You can object to certain types of processing and withdraw consent for marketing at any time. All requests are free of charge in most circumstances.

1. Right of Access (Subject Access Request)

You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days.

To make a request, email info@theroadahead.uk with "Subject Access Request" in the subject line. Include your full name and email address so we can locate your records.

2. Right to Rectification

If any personal data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you can request that we correct it. We will respond within 30 days.

3. Right to Erasure ('Right to be Forgotten')

You can request that we delete your personal data where:

  • The data is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected
  • You withdraw consent and no other lawful basis applies
  • You object to processing and no overriding legitimate grounds exist
  • The data was unlawfully processed

We may need to retain certain data to comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax records retained for 7 years under HMRC requirements).

4. Right to Data Portability

You can receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (e.g. CSV). You can also request that we transmit this data directly to another controller where technically feasible.

5. Right to Object

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time. We will stop processing your data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.

You can also object to direct marketing at any time — simply click "unsubscribe" in any marketing email or contact us.

6. Right to Restrict Processing

You can request that we temporarily restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances, for example while we investigate a complaint about data accuracy.

7. Right to Withdraw Consent

Where we process your data based on consent (e.g. marketing emails), you can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

8. Automated Decision-Making

The Road Ahead does not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

9. How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights, email info@theroadahead.uk with your full name, email address, and the right you wish to exercise.

We will respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

10. Right to Complain

If you believe we have not handled your personal data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

We would always appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns first — see our Complaints Procedure.
